Interleukin-1alpha is a potent immuno-modulator which mediates a wide range of immune and inflammatory responses. Human IL-1alpha is a 18.0 kDa protein containing 159 amino acid residues.

For most in vitro applications, IL-1alpha exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 10.0 ng/mL. Responding cells are (partial list): Leukocytes.

Lyophilized from 10 mM Tris, pH 8.0, containing 50 mM NaCl.

The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. After a quick spin, reconstitute with sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1 mg/mL. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions or stored at -20°C in undiluted aliquots for up to six months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Specific Activity: Human IL-1alpha is fully biologically active when compared to standards.The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of mouse D10S cells is less than 0.001 ng/mL
